Samsung has outstripped all smartwatch manufacturers by adopting the new Wear OS 3 before anyone else, with a special version based on One UI and its services. It was a move that turned out to be the right one, as for the past few years the Galaxy Watch has been one of the most recommended smartwatches in the industry. But they can be better.
A 5 UI for Samsung Watches
Today, Samsung announced the new version of its One UI layer based on Wear OS; The fifth generation will already come with many new features, most related to user health and safety.
Perhaps the most striking has to do with the sleep record. Like many other watches, the Galaxy Watch is able to record the way we sleep to reveal possible problems, but with One UI 5 they will go even further with a new interface called Sleep Insights.
The watch will be able to give us a sleep score, based on different measurements such as sleep phases, snoring hours and blood oxygen levels; this will allow us to improve every day until we get the right score to rest. For this, the Sleep Training function will also be accessible, directly on the watch.
Thanks to the synchronization with SmartThings, the watch will be able to detect if we have fallen asleep and send the command to smart devices to facilitate our rest. For example, to activate sleep mode on the mobile as well as on the watch, automatically dim the screen and disable notifications, or turn off the devices so that they do not disturb us.
The Galaxy Watch will also be better companions for our fitness sessions, with a new function called Personalized Heart Rate Zone which is able to analyze our physical abilities to establish the appropriate levels of training intensity, including warming up. , fat burning, cardio, effort training and maximal effort. This way we can set our own goals based on our current abilities and what we want to improve. The watch will also get hiking and biking route functionality, as well as route recommendations based on data like location or weather with Samsung Health.
Finally, Samsung wants our watch to be able to save our lives if necessary. With the SOS function we will be able to communicate with an emergency phone number and send the location; once activated, emergency services will have access to medical information to expedite treatment. Fall detection, one of the most useful features for all ages, will be enabled by default.
One UI 5 will arrive with the next generation of Galaxy Watches, and Samsung will soon announce updates for current devices.
