Facebook has already released the new version of WhatsApp for Windows. A novelty that would seem to escape a little from the Apple environment, but which contains something very important: the company of Zuckerberg rewrites apps to make them native.
The Importance of Indigenous Development
In the Windows version, Facebook left behind the use of Electron, web-based, and rewrote WhatsApp to use the operating system’s own technologies. A very important step that will greatly improve the performance of the application.
As announced a few months ago, Facebook is also finalizing the new version of WhatsApp for Mac, a version based on Catalyst technology, with which iOS developments can be ported to macOS in a very, very simple way. So the new version of WhatsApp will be based on the system’s own APIs and, like Windows, it will dramatically improve performance and speed.
For the moment it is not known when Facebook plans to launch the new version from whatsapp. For now, what we know is that with less battery and less resources, the application will work better. We also know that WhatsApp for macOS will work even with the iPhone turned off.
While Windows users can download the app from the Microsoft Store, Apple users can, if we want to access the new version of WhatsApp before its launch, sign up for the beta through TestFlight, as long as there is room. Hopefully, sooner rather than later, WhatsApp will make a qualitative leap towards catch up with Telegram or iMessage. Certainly good news.
