The OnePlus portfolio has received this year some very interesting mobile phones like the OnePlus 12, the renewal of its high-end smartphone, and recently presented its entry-level range: the OnePlus Nord CE4, which for the moment is not not available worldwide. However, the Chinese manufacturer increased the hype three days ago with a battery that presumably will open a “new era”.
It was presented last night in China, the company’s country of origin, and the truth is that, at least on paper, it promises a lot. It’s about “Glacier Battery”, with exceptional capacity, thinner and above all resistant to charge cycles. We explain its characteristics and when it will hit the market.
Here is the new OnePlus battery
The OnePlus news has made a lot of noise, not in vain, recent years have not brought very significant advances in smartphone autonomy. It is true that compared to what we had ten years ago, they have improved, especially in terms of capacity, even if the Chinese firm wanted to take a giant step forward.
At dawn, OnePlus presented the aforementioned battery which promises to revolutionize the autonomy of its smartphones. It’s no joke looking at its specs: They managed to squeeze a 6,100 mAh battery into the usual space of a 5,000 mAh battery..
The manufacturer belonging to the BBK consortium shared all the information on the social network Weibo, in different publications. Of course, during the presentation, OnePlus wanted to keep a mocking tone towards itself, commenting that this battery is the Answers to common problems like “battery anxiety” or dependence on external batteries.
The new battery was manufactured, according to the brand, in a “bionic material of silicon-carbon high capacity”. Something very similar to what Honor has been offering for two generations. It offers an energy density of 763 Wh/L.
Additionally, it says its Glacier Battery technology contains 23.1% more energy than standard graphite batteries. It therefore makes it possible to manufacture batteries smaller and more powerfulwhich is undoubtedly a great step forward to enjoy greater autonomy on our mobile phones.
As if that were not enough, OnePlus has other advantages: fast charging is also improved, reaching 100 W. What percentage does this translate to? It can go from 1% to 100% in just 36 minutes. He also adds that after four years of use, it should retain more than 80% of its original capacity.
It would easily surpass the iPhone battery. Remember that Apple promises 80% after 1,000 cycles, which would be a little over two years (considering that we charge our phone every day). We will still have to wait to see it in action: it will arrive on the company’s next mobile phones, although we do not know if these will arrive on the global market.
