Rare is the product that does not have an intelligent version. We started seeing it with phones, then watches, later rings, cameras, refrigerators, fryers and currently we even have it in rings. This layer of innovation is visible in every country, from Europe to Japan. It is not applied with the same intensity in all, but brands seek to connect all possible devices to improve their operation and offer them more comfortable use.
We might think that some things cannot be automated, but it is very likely that attempts have already been made in the laboratory. Or that a company launched a product that we didn’t know existed and didn’t even expect. We have a good example of this in the London company Elvie, specializing in creating technology for women.
One of its best-known products is Elvie Pump, a breast pump that can be controlled remotely from your smartphone and is able to modify its operation depending on the parameters we enter. Its price is 329 dollars if you want a single breast or 599 dollars if you want a system capable of extracting milk from both breasts simultaneously.
This device does not have any type of tubes and is placed directly on the chest. Three sizes are available, so that the device can adapt to all breast types and, thanks to the application, milk production can be optimized. We can have a pump and collect for a larger flow or a slow, gentle flow for sensitive nipples. At the moment, the application is available for iOS, but it will soon also be available on Android. Charging is done via a micro-USB port.
Since it has no tubes, can be placed inside the bra allowing you to express milk without having to use your handsso you can continue doing other things. When the container is full, the device detects this itself and stops the suction. Once used, it can be disassembled and cleaned easily. Accessories such as replacement bottles or fittings are available in case those supplied as standard in the retail box break.
Another model that is also intelligent and controlled from your cell phone is the new Elvie Stride 2, the evolution of the original model, which now improves thanks to a new design and intelligent functions. It is designed to extract milk from both breasts at the same time and has a price lower than the Elvie Pump, 349 dollarsthere is only one version.
This breast pump has a small cable that connects the two breast pumps to the control button, in case we do not want to use the smartphone. One of its greatest advantages is that it has fittings for different types of nipples, which will make use more comfortable for the different types of breasts that exist.
The company offers other breast pumps with a more classic cutfrom manuals to tube electrics, but none are as comfortable as this one, although it is true that this one is also the most expensive. Elvie offers other smart products, designed for the maternity phase, such as the Elvie Trainer for pelvic floor care.
