Following Apple’s decision to stop selling its devices in Russia, prices have risen sharply in the country.
Apple has taken the decision to stop selling its devices in Russia, a drastic measure that stems from the invasion of Ukraine and which caused Apple products are becoming a coveted commodity in the country. The prices would have been multiplied by up to 3 due to the limited supply available.
The most exaggerated example is Apple’s most expensive MacBook Prowhich would now cost more than 1 million rubles, or almost $10,000. The 1TB iPhone 13 Pro Max is now selling for 308,679 rubles, or almost exactly $2,700. The cheapest iPhone 13 mini now costs over $800, and the Apple Watch Series 7 goes up to $1,750.
Shortly after Apple announced it was temporarily suspending sales of its devices in Russia, stores and individual sellers dramatically increased prices.
Also, remember that the value of the ruble, the currency of Russia, dropped by about 25%, which is also not good for keeping prices stable on devices imported to Russia, such as Apple’s.
We have taken a number of actions in response to the invasion. We have suspended all product sales in Russia. Last week, we stopped all exports to our in-country sales channel. Apple Pay and other services have been restricted. RT News and Sputnik News can no longer be downloaded from the App Store outside of Russia.
Apple has been very clear about its intentions and the measures applied, and it is not excluded that in the event that Russia continues to attack the territory of Ukraine, new measures will be taken which may affect the App Store and other Apple services.
