One of the best artificial intelligence functions introduced by Google in its Pixel 8 has just taken a notable leap in terms of functionality: Circle to search includes a new button that instantly translates all text on screen. The translation adapts to the original format and allows you to switch between different languages.
Google’s AI has been included in Android for a while, although recently the company decided to give it a twist based on the huge presence of generative artificial intelligence. From there was born the evolution of Google Lens, Circle to search (or Circle to search in its original name), a way of find everything that appears on the phone screen
Translate text into any language in just two steps
Until now, Android could translate any text on the screen by taking a screenshot and sharing said image with Google Lens. Even Lens automatically took the screenshot, so all you had to do was go to the translate menu. Circle to search makes the process even easier.
As indicated Michael RahmanGoogle updated Rodea to offer searches through Google Play Services and the Google app instant translation at the touch of a button
We have verified that Rodea to search already includes the translate button on our mobile phones. And with an extremely simple operation:
- Launch Surround to search by holding down the bottom navigation bar.
- A scanning animation will appear on the screen and whatever was playing will be paused.
- To the right of the bottom Google search box, you will see a button with the translate icon. Click on it.
- Circle to search will translate the text into the phone language. If you want another language, you can select it from the floating menu.
This new Rodea search option will be extended to all androids compatible with Google’s artificial intelligence: currently the Google Pixel 8, the Google Pixel 8 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy S24, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. It is also being expanded to the Samsung Galaxy S23. And it will appear in other brands at the end of 2024, once Circle to search is no longer exclusive to Google and Samsung.
