Apple continues the development of iOS 17.5, the next update for iPhone and iPad, in addition to updates for the rest of the devices. That is why a few minutes ago it launched the second beta version of iOS 17.5 and the rest of the systems.
What’s new in iOS 17.5 is as follows:
- Install apps directly from a website: This new feature had already been announced by Apple a few weeks ago. Therefore, with iOS 17.5 we will be able to install applications from the App Store, from other alternative stores accepted by Apple and also from developer websites under the function called Webcast.
- Apple Podcasts widget: The Apple Podcasts app home screen widget now has a dynamic color this changes depending on the coverage of the podcast we are listening to. Before, it was just a color that persisted over time.
- Opting out of unwanted tracking: The iOS 17.5 code introduces in its first beta intended for developers a system allowing you to deactivate tracking devices (AirTags, etc.). The operating system will detect devices even if they are not certified on the Find My network and warn the user to disable them. However, this feature has not been announced by Apple, so we understand that it will be under development.
In addition to iOS 17.5 Beta 2 for iPhone, we also have iPadOS 17.5 for iPad, as well as tvOS 17.5, watchOS 10.5, and macOS Sonoma 14.5, all in their second beta releases. In these other systems the changes are minor, but if we find any relevant news we will notify you. The final version should arrive before Junethis is precisely when WWDC 2024 will take place, which will show us iOS 18 for the first time.
