Samsung smartphones are particularly popular in work environmentsboth in Europe and in other markets, because it is one of the companies that, without neglecting the recreational sector, strives to make its ecosystem the most suitable for working, uniting watches, cell phones and computers.
But even if you don’t use your cell phone for work, or especially for leisure, it is possible use certain shortcuts that make it easier to perform certain actions, such as opening applications or calling certain people. Or text them if this is still in progress.
In the case of Samsung phones there is a feature, also active as standard, called sidebar. This floating window is used to open applications, at least as configured by default, but it is possible to make it useful for other things. For example, It can be converted into a shortcut to call the contacts you prefer.
Contacts with a gesture
This floating window opens by swiping from the area marked with a translucent border, usually at the top right of the screen. I know Swipe from outside to inside, a vertical window will appear with application icons. This window can be configured to put the desired applications.
But this time It will be configured to have preferred contacts there. To do this, you must go to its settings, at the bottom of the same window, by clicking on the gear icon. When you enter, you can choose the type of interface you want.
One of these interfaces is the one for entering contacts. In addition, you can put this one and others, being able to switch from one to another by sliding several times on the floating window. By default, the contacts taken into account are those who have been marked as favorites, although more can be added by modifying the interface. In this way it is possible to put any contact.
When the settings are saved and you swipe from the left side inward, into the shaded area, the window will open displaying the contact names and photos. If you click on it, two icons appear, one to call them directly by phone and another to send an SMS. I wish there was the option to replace this texting option with another app, like WhatsApp or Telegram, but right now that’s not possible.
