The coronavirus has always been a descriptive target
Area 120 is a Google task force that, among other suggestions, has brought us automated responses from Reply (already canceled) and an app to learn how to program Grasshopper. In July of last year, he built Shoelace, a social network for iOS and Android focusing on "connecting people with common interests through in-person activities". In other words, it is intended for use among people from a specific community.
Initially, the program was introduced, as we mentioned, in New York and to a limited number of users, though it had an existing form to propose new locations. Thoughtfully it was the same thing Google's version of Facebook events, with user profiles and discussion within each function to discuss details.
Attempt, however, failed and the following message appeared on Shoelace's website: "Shoelace canceled on May 12" ("Shoelace will be canceled May 12"). The party behind the communications platform is disputed as the cause of this closure is the coronavirus epidemic:
"Like all projects in Area 120, Shoelace has always been a test. We are proud of the work we are doing and the community we are building, but given the current health crisis, we do not believe the time is right to invest more in this work."
They also said they had no plans to suspend Shoelace in the future and ensure that, on May 12, Google will delete all information associated with the service permanently. However, those users who want to get a copy can request it by completing this form before that date.
