Google Maps is now an essential application to have on your mobile, in any situation. Far from just being a mapping application, it can also help us avoid speed cameras and check the level of pollution in our area.
Many people also use Google Maps to discover new places; For example, a new bar that has opened nearby or a restaurant that serves cuisine that might interest us.
Many of the latest developments in Google Maps focus specifically on business discovery; The integrated AI functions, for example, will be able to recommend places that might interest us in the area of our destination. And once we find our new favorite restaurant, that’s just the beginning.
Social networks on Google Maps
The latest addition to Google Maps, introduced by Google Business Product Expert Krystal Taing, will allow businesses to associate their social media accounts with their location. This way, users will be able to know the establishment’s Twitter account, find its YouTube channel and much more.
Among the social network profiles that can be associated with a business are Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and X (Twitter), although everything indicates that this selection is not yet completely complete. Google hasn’t rolled out this feature to all businesses yet, and it’s not done yet.
This section joins others already present on the professional pages of Google Maps, which display the description of the place and information that may be useful to the user, such as the contact telephone number or the website; Social media profiles would add to this as another way to contact the company.
To this we must add that Google Maps is already a social network, thanks to its comment system which allows consumers to share their experiences and photographs; some photos that can be shared.
For businesses, this will be additional marketing space; Most of the business page is dedicated to community-created content, and businesses don’t have much space to promote their products or brand. By offering a link to profiles on other social networks, Google seeks to solve this problem.
The new profiles option is available for Google business accounts, in the “Business Info” and “Contact” section of settings; although, as we have already said, the function gradually reaches users and perhaps not in all countries.
