It is enough that you do not expect calls to be disturbed by a call that, in addition, comes from an unknown number. And it’s not always a good idea to refuse it, it can come from someone who you did not yet have in the diary. What do you plan to resend the communication or forget it? First make sure that this unknown number was not spam, you can avoid more inconvenience.
Spam calls are all too common, even if you sign up for platforms like the Robinson List (which we recommend, you will reduce to almost zero the chances of being called). And the best part is that your Android mobile has an excellent tool to fight against unwanted commercial communications: the Google phone. This app along with spam number lists is the best strategy to get rid of such communications.
Say goodbye to unwanted calls
Not all unknown numbers will have commercial intentions; Our recommendation is therefore not to completely block unknown communications on your Android mobile: the possibility that someone you know is not on your calendar is high. Although yes, it’s not a bad idea to use your phone app’s anti-spam options. And, as an added recommendation, the Robinson List will help prevent companies from contacting you if you haven’t expressed that intention before. It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty close.
Want to make sure your mobile is filtering out all unwanted communications? The Google Phone application, preinstalled on most Android smartphones, is a great ally:
- Open the phone app on your Android.
- Click on the three upper menu points and click on “Settings”.
- Enter in “Caller ID and Spam“.
- Make sure both options are checked:Show caller ID and spam” And “Filter unwanted calls“.
- Plus, if you have a Pixel, you can have Google Assistant answer communications you don’t want to answer: when you see the call on the screen click the filter calls button, the one that appears with the wizard icon. The conversation will appear written on your mobile and you can decide to answer directly or hang up.
With the above, you will avoid being disturbed to a large extent, but the number will still appear in the call list
Was the missed call spam? Check it out
You have an unknown number in your call list and you want to know why it called you. Since it could be spam, you might as well pick up the phone and they’ll end up selling you something you don’t really need. Or worse: there are scams that take advantage of curiosity to commit recall fraud. You must remain vigilant: if they really have a reason to call you, they will call you back.
Let’s see. How do I know who an unknown number belongs to and if it is spam? There are four good ways apart from the phone app.
- Google the number. The easiest: copy the phone number and paste it into Google. You will surely find information about the person or company behind it.
- Google Maps. Just like Google, but applied directly to businesses: Maps can tell you who owns the number and its exact location.
- spam list. An excellent directory of business numbers with information about companies, why they are calling and the opinions of those who have received communications before you. Access the page from this link.
- Who called? Web similar to the previous one which has an extensive database with commercial telephone numbers. User feedback will help you take action against future appeals – you can visit the page here.
Once detected that the number that called you belongs to the Spam category, the best thing to do is to add it to the blocked list on your mobile: hold this number in the call list and choose “Block/Mark as Spam“. It won’t bother you anymore.
