We’ve been talking for a long time about how the iPhone screen “notch” could become a double hole in the new iPhone 14 Pro, but now it seems only one could be seen.
The screen of the iPhone 14 Pro will be the protagonist of the list of changes made to this new model. A screen similar to the current one, with the same refresh rate of 120Hz but with the “Always On” mode this would allow it to be always on, displaying information even when locked, like the Apple Watch. But there will also be changes in the “notch”, this cutout that has become so characteristic of Apple’s smartphone since the launch of the iPhone X. Instead of this central cutout we would have two smaller cutouts, the one in the form of a pill, and another round. However, it looks like Apple is going to make it look like a simple cutout.
As MacRumors learned (link), it looks like Apple is going to do this through software that iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max screen, when turned on, shows a single cutout in pill form. How would I? Well, turn off the pixels between the two physical cutouts on the screen. It’s how the company thinks looks best and is least distracting when viewing content. But neither would it be something static, but could even vary depending on what is displayed on the screen, becoming a square with rounded corners when showing notifications. If this rumor is true, it will be very interesting to see how Apple explains the meaning of this decision in its presentation, and what functionality it gives to this curious operation. We’ll have to wait until next week to find out, so there’s not much left to reveal about this mystery.
