Fingers crossed, but it is possible that the saga of Android 11 updates for the Xiaomi Mi A3 has reached its last opus: the last available update seems to close the circle, with Android 11, January security patch and screen recorder.
On the last day of 2020, Xiaomi released a poisonous gift: what appeared to be the final version of the bricked Android 11 mobile phones. The update resumed after a few days, but came without Android 11 screen recorder. With the January security patch, it looks like we can finally turn the page on updating the Xiaomi Mi A3 to Android 11.
The end of the saga
The Xiaomi Mi A1 arrived in 2017 in what seemed like a winning combination: Xiaomi hardware and Google software. Over time, the plan has been shown to have a few flaws: delays and failed updates accompanied a series that, perhaps, has no more sequel.
One of the models that suffered the most errors in updates was the Xiaomi Mi A3, which suffered such bizarre errors as sending Mexican firmware to global models. The update to Android 11 was to be requested until December 31, 2020, when an update was sent with errors. After a few days Xiaomi stopped the deployment and after fixing the error it resumed with a frustrating omission: the screen recorder was missing, one of the new features of Android 11.
Now Xiaomi is shipping the Xiaomi Mi A3 january security patch: 329MB download, the latest security patches … and a freebie the screenshot that fell out of the basket during the last update. Now yes, the update to Android 11 of the Xiaomi Mi A3 can be considered complete. Given that it was released with Android Pie, it is highly likely to be the final chapter in Xiaomi’s Android One updates.
