Today, Apple celebrates 45 years since its founding, April 1, 1976. The company has changed a lot since then, and much of this path has been followed by figures such as Steve Jobs, Jony Ive or Steve Wozniak. They have been more than four decades full of innovation in the service of users.
Throughout these years, Apple has been firmly committed to improve people’s lives through technology. And it is precisely in this that Tim Cook believes the company has the greatest potential for the years to come, which he said in a note to his employees.
The CEO of Apple shared, on the occasion of this anniversary, a few words about the evolution of the company in the already 45 years of his life. In this document, shared by MacGeneration, he discusses how the company has evolved without abandoning the commitments it made when it was founded in 1976.
“On April 1, 1976, a company was formed in Cupertino to create transformative products that redefine what technology can accomplish and thereby improve people’s lives. Forty-five years later, we mark this occasion by re-dedicating ourselves to this mission – and keeping it alive for a long time to come – rather than fondly remembering it as something of the past.
While some things at Apple have changed over these many years, the important things haven’t changed. From the M1 chip to 5G iPhones, from iPads that change the face of education and productivity to a watch that can watch over your health, to the best software and services that bring them all to life, we’ve never stopped set the tone that others are trying to match. What I can tell you for sure is that there has never been a moment with greater potential than this, and we have never had such a talented and dedicated team. This should not allow us to sit still. Great potential forces great people to meet him.
I know this past year has tested each of us in ways we never imagined. He asked all of us to adapt, it added complexity to our work and it required additional resolve and commitment in areas of our lives that go far beyond our work. But I also know that what we have each accomplished during this time should make us extremely proud. Through a challenge once in a generation, the things we make and the way we make them have revealed new, deep and lasting sources of value to the people who love and depend on them. And, on many fronts, we know even better days are ahead.
In an email like this, to mark an anniversary much earlier not long after I arrived at Apple, Steve said, “It’s been an amazing journey so far, but we’ve barely started.” Still true. Remember none of us will be there for the end of the story, but it’s up to all of us to make sure it’s something worth telling. “
In addition, Tim Cook also shared Twitter an article about the company’s anniversary, specifically referring to one of Steve Jobs’ quotes, with a thank you to the employees the company.
As Apple turns 45 today, I remember Steve’s words from many years ago: “It’s been an amazing journey so far, but we’ve barely started.” Thank you to all of our Apple family for all you have done to enrich lives. Here’s the next 45 years and beyond!
