Surprise at the good we found today, which, if true, could lead to layoffs at Apple Park. Geekbench, one of the most popular portals for applying benchmarks to Apple devices, You saw how an ‘M2 Max’ chip appeared in your database. Someone put it to the test and the performance test result leaked on the web.
I stress that we can’t know if this chip is really an ‘M2 Max’ which there are only rumors at the moment, but Geekbench is generally not the place where there are misinformation. And the best thing is that we can compare the results with the current M1 Max chips.
Improvements, but not spectacular

First, the specs. The alleged features of the M2 Max chip a 12-core processor and 96 GB of RAM, pity that the details of the GPU are not specified. This chip is apparently in a device called “Mac14.6”, which MacRumors believe could be the next generation Mac Studio or high-end MacBook Pro, and which runs macOS Ventura 13.2. This version of the Mac operating system is still in beta.
The score obtained by this mysterious “M2 Max” chip is 1,853 stitches in the trials single core and of 13,855 points in the trials multicore. If we compare it with the M1 Max of a Mac Studio we see a slight increase compared to 1,755 and 12,333 points in the tests single core y multicore respectively. It’s not a huge improvement, but it’s still an improvement.
In theory, we should have seen this chip in new Macs during the month of November which is now ending, but rumors have indicated delays in Apple’s schedule and we now have to expect these computers in early 2023. We We’ll continue to monitor what leaks, but if we’re talking performance testing, that means there shouldn’t be much work to do. The logistics and the problems with China must be the main stumbling block.
