Apple products are beautiful, we are all convinced of that. What is certain is that not all products are for everyone. A Mac Pro, for example, has a very defined audience just like an Apple Watch SE or entry iPad. For him sometimes you can regret a purchase.
Products yes, products no
Like everyone, at Applesfera, we publishers buy and enjoy Apple products. We see which ones are for us, which ones are right for us in our daily lives, and which ones are best left behind. And, of course, you can also regret a purchase. These are the stories of when it happened.
Miguel Lopez tells us about his adventures with a Magic Trackpad, a device that seemed promising to him, but which he ended up replacing with a classic mouse.
“I was attracted by the arrival of the desktop Magic Trackpad. I find the Magic Mice to be anything but ergonomic despite their helpful gestures and excellent on-screen feedback, and I thought Apple was right to find a way to replace the mouse with a giant touchpad. Was this the company’s new way? Basing it all on gestures and multiple layers of click pressure?”
“It looked good, but it didn’t work. I ended up going back to mice, because the Magic Trackpad kept my hand constantly stretched out and hurt even more. It was a failed experiment, and this Magic Trackpad ended up in the hands of a friend who was also drawn to it.” for him and also ended up rejecting him”.
Javier Lacortwhich you all know from his Infinite Loop podcast, where in fact he has already considered this purchase, tells us about the original HomePod.
“The original HomePod. I live in an apartment, so spending $350 on the HomePod, like I did in October 2018, was something I could only justify using it fairly sparingly, and beyond that. a certain volume. I quickly saw that the right volume to enjoy them quite compromised my maxim of not disturbing my neighbors; and that money could get me some excellent headphones, probably something more suitable for my usual way of consuming music, not disturbing anyone at home, etc.
“I thought using it connected to the TV to play movies might be an option, but the most logical thing was to buy a second speaker and increase the bill to 700 dollars, something impossible for me to justify at the time. I ended it by giving back and learning a valuable lesson: tone down the hype when deciding on a purchase, especially from certain price points.”
Francois Bouzas, tells us about his experience with the leather strap for Apple Watch. An interesting strap that did not quite convince him.
“The Apple purchase I regret the most is my leather band for my Apple Watch. I paid 100$ for it, and although I use it every day, I’m still not convinced. To begin with, my Apple Watch Series 7 is blue and the strap is black.”
“On the other hand, it wears out very quickly, and after contacting Apple Support, their response is that it’s the result of normal use. If I could go back, I wouldn’t have it bought in. That’s a lot of money for a strap, and honestly, I haven’t seen the investment yield a positive return”.
For my part, I have to talk about the original Apple Watch. Not that I regret buying it, but did it so late. I bought this first Apple Watch about two and a half months before the release of the next generation, which I also owned.
My idea, from the initial launch, was wait for a second generation. A bad idea. Seeing how revolutionary this product had been for months, I finally went to an Apple Store and, given the possibility that the renewal cycle was two years, I left with an Apple Watch on my wrist. Lesson learned: The best time to buy something is when you need it.
