Google does not stop in its effort to constantly develop Android Auto, version after version. and with a space between these versions increasingly reduced: if this week we met the stable version number 8.3, Android Auto 8.4 beta is already in circulation. No, don’t expect Coolwalk: it’s getting some environmental changes, but it’s still not available to all users.
Cars are an open window to a huge collection of data, they are also a great support for navigation applications. These two premises form a large part of Google’s strategy with Android Auto: the company wants to reach the maximum number of brands and models
New week, new beta round
Android Auto is updated in development almost daily, although it doesn’t jump between versions as constantly. Or is it what happened months ago, because lately It looks like it keeps updating. And it is so much that Google has stepped on the accelerator.
Although we have new round versions of Android Auto every month, this does not imply that the changes introduced there are visible. The same is happening with the 8.4 beta release: we checked the app’s coverage, as well as some of its code, without noticing any variations. Yes, there are subtle improvements in Coolwalk– The media widget receives some customization tweaks, the playback screen is slightly slimmed down in its gradient, and portrait mode gains some presence in the settings.
Beyond the changes introduced in an interface that is still not usable for the majority, Android Auto 8.4 in beta brings the already usual bug fixes, stability improvements, mobile and vehicle compatibility improvements
Do you want to test the latest version in your car? Google Play beta access is over, but just follow the following process to get Android Auto 8.4 right now.
- Download the APK from APK Mirror. Install it on the Android mobile that you use with your car.
- Accept the update on your mobile.
- The APK is signed by Google and is secure. Otherwise, it wouldn’t let you update your Android Auto.
Given the pace of updates, we’re sure to have a new round release in less than two weeks; with a stable Android Auto 8.4 before the end of October. We will be watching to see what happens with Coolwalk.
