Since the release of Android 12L, we’ve seen how Google came back to give me more love for tablet applications, again betting on this sector after leaving it parked for a few years. In its commitment, Google confirmed that it will adapt more than 20 of its applications to large screens, and one of these applications is the play store.
The overhaul of Google Play for tablets started last July with the arrival of Material Design to the application for tablets like previous stage to its major overhaul
The news of the new redesign of the Play Store
In the screenshot above we can see how is or was the interface that the Play Store received on tablets a few months ago. With the arrival of Material design we saw how a large navigation menu appeared on the left side with a large search bar. Well, that has started to change in the latest version of the store for large-screen devices.
As we see in the screenshot below, the side navigation menu that appears with the device in landscape is now much narrower. Now, with its reduced size, it displays the name of each section under its respective icon. Thus, Google leaves more space to display more apps and recommendations on the screen. We also see it now icons are centered vertically
The other change is in the search bar is now more compact, has been reduced by almost half. This brings a small inconvenience, and that is that there are now fewer tabs at the top.
With these changes of Play Store for tablets It already has the same structure as the expected big overhaul that Google showed off last May. Now all that’s left is for Google to redesign the content of the sections to display promotions, suggestions, apps and tabs in different columns with larger images to make the store much more attractive on large screens.
