A major update is expected from Google Photos in Europe to adapt its interface to tablets. Not only does the renewal of the application for those devices with larger screen dimensions remain there, but now the The settings page gets a long-awaited redesign to simplify the interface and this allows easier access to any type of user.
Google is not characterized by a design in the settings that allow quick reading with a glance of seconds in its vast repertoire of applications. Yes, it’s true that it worked quite hard to imbue some apps with simpler and easier access to settings, but Photos lacked that experience, being one of the most used apps by millions of people. on the planet.
In fact, now the settings page improves exponentially in the Android version to simplify everything. It goes from a very long list, which didn’t even fit on a single screen, to go directly to a grouping by sub-menus reducing its quantity so it looks great on mobile without having to scroll down. What is achieved is quick access to the options most used by users.
NOW is grouped into six menus which take on all the importance world: copy, notifications, preferences, sharing, apps and devices, and privacy. The first two remain largely the same, while the likes bring together similar faces, memories, and grid playback of photos. The sharing submenu stays with collaborator sharing, hiding the moving photos video, ignored suggestions, and notifications.
Apps and devices offers options for this device (to free up storage space), photo frames and SD card access. Eventually, privacy submenu is improved to stay with location options, Google Lens, sharing options, similar face grouping and photo frame; the latter two are repeated and also appear in other submenus.
The ‘information about Google Photos’ option is reduced to a small link that appears just below the app version. Another detail that stands out from this renovation is that dividing lines are completely removed to apply to the list of parameters of each submenu.
This update, according to 9to5Google, arrives in version 6.39 of Google Photos for android, but it is not yet rolled out, so it is understood that it is being done in phases so that it will be gradually received in the coming days or weeks. It remains to be seen whether the renewal of the settings page will apply to other Google applications, such as Gmail, Keep or Messages. A unified design that makes it easy to read that amount of parameters that can make anyone dizzy.
