Smartphones are a tool that we use to work and capture special moments with their cameras; But it is undeniable that they are too an entertainment machinea portal to enjoy countless series, films, videos on different platforms, and of course, many video games.
And the Google Play Store is full of great titles, some free, some paid. The idea of this article is to recommend to you, dear reader, some of our favorite gamesprovided they don’t cost a fortune. Good, pretty and inexpensive, or at least accessible, with a maximum price of 10 dollars. There are retro, modern and nostalgic games, all of excellent quality.
Kill the arrow
Slay the Spire is one of the most original and interesting games I’ve seen released in recent years. Its gameplay mixes two styles: a genre-bending collectible card battle game
Castlevania: SotN
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, but brought to the screen of our smartphone. Google Play Store is full of mobile versions of classic games and retroincluding some very popular ones like the Final Fantasy saga and even Dragon Quest. But in this list we are going to recommend one of the most important games of its genre, and a classic among classics. Castlevania: SotN Mixes Style Exploration metroidvania with 2D combat and action as well as an excellent story. If you’ve never played it, having it available on mobile is a great opportunity.
The banner saga
The Banner Saga tells an excellent story set in a world inspired by Norse mythology. And in addition to having a very good story, it also offers excellent gameplay based on the turn-based tactical combata game that we can undoubtedly enjoy a lot on the screen of our mobile phones. The game is already around a decade old and since then other installments have emerged including Banner Saga 2 which is also available on the Play Store.
Dead cells
I have a weakness for style games metroidvaniabut it is a reality that in recent years independent developers have created exceptional titles in this genre, and Dead Cells is one of the best. This game mixes the exploration of a metroidvania with randomly generated levels and a permadeath system which means that every time our character dies they lose all the items, weapons and skills that we have obtained in each run. This may seem extreme, but it adds a lot more fun. Plus, as we progress, we can get permanent improvements.
TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge
Finally, a game that I recommend in a somewhat delicate way, since technically it cannot be purchased, but it is not free either. TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is available to all Netflix subscribers, as part of the service’s excellent game catalog. Actually, Netflix also offers access to Dead Cells.
TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is a game that I can’t help but recommend, as it’s a title that mixes nostalgia with a retro-style game (but currently in development) with excellent combat and gameplaybased on characters as beloved and well-known as the Ninja Turtles.
