Every time Google shuts down a product, it tries to convince us that we can use another one that’s much better instead, although that rarely happens. The successor to Android Auto on the car screen is the driving mode of the Google Ass istant, an interface that appears when starting a route from Google Maps.
The problem is that the driving mode of the Google Assistant it is not available for the same mobiles for which Android Auto for phones was available. In fact, it is also not available in all regions.
Although Android Auto is compatible with phones running Android 6.0 or later, Google Assistant driving mode requires Android 9.0 or higher and the mobile must have at least 4 GB of RAM, which leaves out the most modest terminals. Moreover, it is only available in a few countries: Germany, Australia, Canada, Europe, United States, France, India, Italy, Mexico or United Kingdom. United.
Android Auto for phones has been unheard of for years, but it continued to work in versions prior to Android 12. With this change, mobile phones with any version of Android used in another region to the ten countries compatible with the driving mode of the Google Assistant, they find themselves without an interface adapted to the car.
Also excluded are anyone from a supported region, such as Europe, who has a version earlier than Android 9.0 Pie.
