YouTube wants you ad blockers become useless, and for this he has been experimenting for a long time with different methods to make them useless. The company’s latest crackdown on ad blockers is one of its toughest yet, merging ads with videos to make them virtually impossible to block.
This isn’t the first time YouTube has taken its fight against ad blockers more seriously. We saw recently how they also declared war on third-party apps that block ads, and previously they had already taken action against extensions dedicated to this same purpose. Now your new idea is embed ads in videos
YouTube could start “injecting” ads directly into the video so there is no way to block them
This new strategy against ad blockers was discovered by the developers of SponsorBlock, an extension for blocking ads. In a post on the social network
This means that the advertisements would be part of the video that we are watching, instead of being a separate element that is sent to the device we are watching a video on at the time of playback. Being a separate item allows ad blockers to detect them, but being embedded directly into the video stream makes this impossible, at least for now, as the developers explain.
This year, we’ve seen several steps taken by YouTube to avoid the use of ad blockers. Just a few weeks ago, several users reported on Reddit and social media that by using ad blockers, YouTube appeared to prevent the video from playing.or fast forward the video to the end or silence it completely, although, according to the company, this was part of a series of developments aimed at improving the performance of the platform, and was not a measure against ad blockers.
Of course, the company’s idea is that users watch videos through one of two available options: with ads or by paying a YouTube Premium subscription for ad-free playback.
For now, injecting ads into videos from servers seems to be something unlikely. in testing phase by YouTube, but this measure could reach the platform in general and all users in the future.
