One of the big problems with air conditioners is their ugliness. Although their design has been modernized in recent years, compared to other smart home devices, they have become obsolete.

At LG they think the same, and that’s why in their time they introduced the Artcool Gallery range, consisting of photo frames that hid the entire air conditioning system behind. Now their successors are coming, more advanced than ever.
A screen that hides an air conditioner
The new Artcool will be part of the range of products that LG plans to present at the next CES to be held in early January, so we do not know all its data such as price or launch date; but what has been taught seems good.
The new Artcool Gallery range, instead of depending on us to manually change canvases or photographs in the painting, uses a 27-inch LCD screen with WiFi connectivity, which allows us to change the displayed image quickly and directly. To do this, it will be enough to use the LG ThinQ application, which will offer us the possibility of sending images stored on our smartphone or choosing from a selection of predetermined images.
In addition to the easy image change, the great advantage of using a screen is that we can use animations instead of static images, or we can even just play multimedia content, using the air conditioning as if it s was a smart TV; a phrase we weren’t expecting to say today.
However, the priority is to display photographs and paintings, and so the aspect ratio is unusual, 1:1; that is, it is square, equal in height to width. This means that some images will take up the whole panel, but most will have borders; luckily, it looks like those borders will be white, not black, which should go a long way in mimicking a real box.
Speaking of air conditioning, which is the primary function of this product, LG claims it has a three-way indirect airflow system; this essentially means that the cold air does not come directly from the front like in most devices, but through three slots on each side of the frame. In addition, the new compressor reduces the noise generated by the system.
As technology advances, we expect to see more and more smart devices like this trying to “hide” in our home. For example, not so long ago we saw an Ikea lamp that is actually a smart speaker.
