Sometimes I use WhatsApp and sometimes I use Telegram. and sometimes I use WhatsApp disguised as Telegramnot for anything in particular, but simply because I can.
With the arrival of themes on WhatsApp, the customization options multiply to levels previously known only with WhatsApp MODs. If we add this to Telegram stickers and a custom icon, we have the perfect suit for WhatsApp.
Telegram and WhatsApp theme
WhatsApp finally supports themes with which we can change the color of chat bubbles and some interface elements, being a unique opportunity to disguise WhatsApp with the appearance of other applications.
For years, Telegram has offered light green chat bubbles, similar to those on WhatsApp, making the use of themes unnecessary. However, for the sake of science, I chose put light blue bubbles on WhatsApplike the classic Telegram theme. Older people in the area will remember it, although in fact it is still available in the app.
After the color is missing Telegram background image. Here the easiest way I found to use Telegram background is to simply take a screenshot of an empty chat in Telegram Web and save the image to the mobile, so I can use it as a background for my WhatsApp chats.
The result is a WhatsApp that seems less WhatsApp than everwith the standard Telegram background, light blue bubbles and a button to record voice notes in blue.

Telegram and WhatsApp stickers
To continue the transformation, I chose download Telegram and WhatsApp stickers. There are several ways to do this, but undoubtedly the easiest is to use the unofficial Telegram stickers for the Telegram app.
The process is very simple and we explain it in detail in this article, but it basically involves opening a sticker pack from any website like TelegramChannels and choose Unofficial Telegram Stickers for WhatsApp from the app selection box.
This downloads the stickers andturns you into one or more sticker packs for WhatsAppwhich you can freely add to the application. With Telegram stickers, with their own style, the telegram transformation of WhatsApp is almost complete.

Finally, it was the turn of the icon, who also needed a facelift to fit into the costume. To change the WhatsApp icon I used the option change shortcut in Nova Launcherwith which it is possible to use any image as an icon on the home screen.
I created the icon in question in Photoshop by modifying the official icon to use Telegram colors, so it really doesn’t have much science to it. Afterwards it was enough save it as PNG with transparency and transfer it to the mobile to be able to configure it in Nova Launcher.
And that’s how my WhatsApp disguised itself as Telegram this Halloween. This is not something that has any benefit, but it serves to teach us how far WhatsApp’s customization options have come. This is something remarkable, because a few years ago we were not allowed to change anything.
