Last Friday, April 24, they were fulfilled five years after the launch of the first Apple Watch. The new device arrived in the first countries at that time, and Canada became one of them. The caterpillar coincided with the year I lived in Whistler, a British ski resort. That is why I have not missed an opportunity to have it since day one.
During all this time, I have learned many things in the first place it carries Apple. It's been a day that surprised me.
From Series 0 to Series 5: battle for use on the wrist
Comparing Apple Watch Series 0 (unnamed) with Series 5 is wrong. Five years of multiplication they have left an improbable mark on the clock path. It is enough to note that the current hardware and software are very different and include a series of impressive improvements. Some of them not being thought of at the time:
- Standard GPS and 4G optional, but only if necessary to maintain autonomy.
- The water resistance of IP69 is up to 50 meters.
- ECG and cardiac alerts.
- A larger screen with more rich dials and problems.
- Speed is the use that enhances the experience.
- The screen stays open, a much-needed upgrade for users.
With all the new generation of Apple Watch, the value of the clock has grown
After years, Apple's clock is struggling to get used to wearing something there too. And that has always been the biggest competition: the so-called non-use. The idea that it is ignored, but represents a large part of a real competition of companies (the Watch is already surpassing the Swiss industry in 2019, by the way). Examples of this would be transit, where the passenger is able to choose a car or city bus, but also not traveling. Also, when buying a smartphone you can choose between different products, but also keep the ones you already own.
This device is facing the challenge that when it comes to switching clocks, the client has never considered it between a traditional product, smartwatch or Apple Watch. No. Possibly, you have to convince her to wear something on her wrist First of all, because you have to check the time on your phone. That argument focuses on consumption and that's where Apple Watch has tried to provide it with each new model.
Health, training, physical activity, telecommunications, calendar, time and, of course, time are the things that mark this value. In the case of health, it has even saved the lives of many people all this time.
Necklaces and metal collection
If there is something outstanding during this whole time, that is a great feature of the watch. From the very beginning we knew the Apple Watch was a very personalized tool. More than any other apple bite product. Two box sizes with different clusters and materials were combined a range of belts of various kinds
At the time, I chose the metal model. In 2015, the Apple Watch provided only the case for this device, as well as an apparel screen that is more resistant to design (currently, all metal watches feature 4G connectivity). While many find it at the time it is unrealistic pay more with a "did the same" watch The aluminum model was a personal decision that I have never regretted.
After wearing an automatic metal watch for years, I couldn't imagine wearing something else. I'm currently using a sports model, which is a collection that Apple offers to journalists. And while it's an important change, I've always missed metal. It makes the clock stronger and stronger. Extra paragraph, too.
AirPods and the beginning of 4G connectivity as post-iPhone drivers
One could not test the full trajectory of the Apple Watch without AirPods. Apple's wireless headphones are like a faithful squire who, unless necessary, increases the use of the set. And when we integrate it with 4G connectivity, we're experiencing integration that started the post-iPhone era. For one thing, just as happened with the iPad, it doesn't mean that the above is outdated and doesn't work for us anymore.
What happens is that use appears to have been previously but can now be done in a better way, such as calling, checking time or getting information from Siri. And at the same time some uses arise that are not possible with the previous paradigm, as it can be everything to do with monitoring the health and function of the body.
The Apple Watch's approach to its five-year lifespan is impressive, ranging from being one of the products despised by critics but popular with users to being the foundation of growth.
The iPhone has the ability to make phone calls, showing time again interact with Siri, but it doesn't do it in a comfortable way. As for other uses, it is impossible to do it on an iPhone (unless, perhaps, to wear it with a bracelet upon first use).
The only option left all this time is a panorama of third-party apps. To the best of my ability all these years, I never found any apps that's become a basic thing. Or it might be because on my iPhone I use many official apps, which have their own compatible version on Watch. Time, Stock Market, Podcasts, Messages, Apple Music, Work and Home are some of them. The only third-party app stored, probably, is the one used to do the Neato stove cleaning job.
The road through the Apple Watch these five years is impressive. From being a bad discussion of Apple products, it's being reviled by analysts but loved by users, being one by one employees of company growth. Until the part is formed wearable It would be about the Fortune 200 if it were an independent company.
Without a doubt, his future holds a good starting point. We'll see what's coming.
