Google continues to tighten the screws on what will be the next key release of the mobile operating system. And not only has it added features like the excellent Private Space, but Android 15 brings more than one hidden change in its latest beta, number three. As they discovered recently, the current version has a renewed maintenance mode which allows testing of moving components.
Knowing that an Android phone isn’t working well is usually something intuitive, the feeling that the screen isn’t responding as it should or that the battery isn’t lasting as long as it initially did. There are applications that are responsible for analyze the components one by one
“Component Conditions”, a new feature in Android 15
Google introduced a way to analyze battery health with Android 14: this way it is possible to know how this component is; with charge cycles, another essential information for Know whether or not to change the battery. But that’s not the only thing that can malfunction on the device.
As Mishaal Rahman discovered in Android Authority, Google has hidden new diagnostic tools in Android 15 beta 3. The cache is such that, for now, only the new one appears if enabled from developer “flags”
To access the new menu, simply follow these steps, still after updating to Android 15 beta 3:
- Install the Activity Launcher app.
- Open the app and search for “DeviceDiagnostics”.
- Select “MainActivity” from the drop-down list: the new diagnostic tools will open.
To access the new diagnostic tools, as long as someone manages to activate them (the activity tip does not count), you have to go to the Android settings and enter “System”: there they appear as “Component conditions“. In addition to the tests that we could do until now on the battery to know its state of health, Google allows you to measure the touch of the screen and the operation of the panel itself. The storage status has also been integrated, another information that we already had with Android 15.
Since they are hidden, we still don’t know if Google will finally release the diagnostic tools with stable Android 15 or continue to keep them in testing. Also ands can incorporate more components into the section: Besides the battery, screen and storage, you could add RAM, vibrations or sound for example. So far as to carry out a status analysis without having to resort to external applications.
