Deleting “always-on data” will give you a battery bonus
The option we are talking about is literally called “always-on data” or failing that, “always-on mobile data”. This is a feature that, as a rule, is usually useful when allow device to use mobile data when WiFi fails or not leaving you offline when you switch from one network to another.
However, that it is activated has its negative side in consumption. Thus, by deactivating it, we can draw a little more from the battery, thus avoiding that the mobile is constantly with mobile data activated (even if it is on a small scale). And for that, you just have to follow these steps:
- Make sure Developer Options is enabled (just tap ‘Build Number’ five times in a row under the ‘Device Information’ section in Settings).
- Open these developer options. They’re usually found in the “System” menu in settings, although if you can’t find them, you can use the settings search engine to find it.
- Look for the “mobile data always on” option (in the “Networks” section) and turn it off.
There you go, once that’s done you’ll have disabled the option and your mobile will stop consuming these resources while you are connected to a Wi-Fi network. Although it is not definitive to save the battery, in the long term it represents a significant point of saving and more so when the WiFi network on which you are connected is stable. And by the way, you will also save mobile data.
Now you also need to take into account the counterpart which consists in disabling this parameter. And it is that in unstable WiFi networks it is very useful so that the connection is not only stable, but also faster. Therefore, even sporadically for situations like this, you can keep this option enabled and revoke it when not needed.
