At the end of September the new update arrived to give that special touch to video calls with some augmented reality effects among many others. NOW WhatsApp is updated with a simple tweak which appears in the privacy section, and thus decide if you want to disable the AR Effects button in the interface.

In addition to the augmented reality effects of WhatsApp which allow modification of the user’s face or simply enhance the light coming from the environment to enhance these video calls, others are also applied to beautify the user’s skin if desired. It’s not that this is anything new on a mobile phone, but in such a popular app it was a long-awaited experience.

Now what WhatsApp is doing in a new development is making these effects optional when give more granular controland thus decide if the AR effects button will be present in video calls. This improvement has been seen since version 2.24.22.10 of WhatsApp beta for Android.

This option appears in the privacy settings and, once enabled, allows you to apply effects, filters and backgrounds to both mobile cameras during video calls from the AR Effects button. In fact, in the screenshot shared by WaBetaInfo, it reads: some effects can respond dynamically to facial expressionsgestures and hand movements, which makes the interaction more expressive.

This new experience provides greater flexibility for using AR effects as well as Decide if you want this button on video calls. An additional option to completely customize the chat application according to WaBetaInfo.

The big difference in this development is that by deactivating the AR effects from the settings the interface is completely cleaned video calls, since the button itself would not seem to leave it as it was before applying this experience, which mimics other applications like Google Meet itself.

This novelty has been present since the beta version of WhatsApp for some users and will soon be deployed in Europe in the final version, as has happened with other new functions that have improved the application throughout this year; and there have been many, as we have seen with those available in Europe and a large number of developments that have been tested from the different beta versions of WhatsApp.
