Matter, the protocol that unifies
In November 2022, Matter became the standard for Alexa and Google Assistant can “communicate” with all smart devices that we can have at home.
And it was just now, according to Gizmochina, that Amazon took over its old Echo speakers to make them compatible with this standard called Matter. This the update is coming via OTAit will therefore simply download the update itself to implement the new firmware that supports this protocol.
This update is for devices Echo, Echo Dot and Echo Plus second generation to prepare them for Matter. Even now, the fourth generation of Echo devices can act as a wire router with the possibility of adding devices compatible with this standard.
Matter also now supports iOS devices that support Apple HomeKit, so opens up a sea of possibilities so that all the smart devices we have at home can communicate with each other.
Matter update for these Alexa-controlled Amazon devices lets Assistant handle a good variety of Eve hardware, plus setup support Eve Door & Window, Eve Energy and Eve Motion; a compatibility that was erected at the end of last month.
Amazon thus confirms the announcement of the upcoming arrival of an update for 17 of its Echo products for Matter by the end of 2022 and a total of 30 Echo and Eero models which have been updated for a few days.
