Every version of macOS comes with a primary wallpaper and this one has been declared the best of them all.
Apple fan Basic Apple Guy launched a few days ago a vote to find out which was the best wallpaper macOS ever had throughout its history. Each version of Apple’s operating system comes with a primary wallpaper, and Basic Apple Guy pitted them against a popular vote to determine which was best.
After a long vote, it was macOS’ favorite wallpaper
In the list we find 18 competitors. On one side of the board is the feline wallpapers, since that’s what Apple named its systems some time ago. The clashes were as follows:
- Mac OS X 10.0/10.1 (Cheetah/Puma) versus Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion)
- Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) versus Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion)
- Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) versus Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
- Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) versus Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
On the other side of the picture we find the new systems, called “California”, for names related to places in the state that Apple has used most recently. On this side we have a total of 10 competitors
- Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks)
- Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)
- Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan)
- Mac OS 10.12 Sierra
- macOS 10.13 (High Sierra)
- macOS 10.14 (Mojave)
- macOS 10.15 (Catalina)
- macOS 11 (Big Sur)
- macOS 12 (Monterey)
- macOS 13 (coming soon)
After successive votes, two wallpapers reached the final: Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) and macOS 10.15 (Catalina). Certainly two very beautiful wallpapers. But of the two users they chose the macOS Catalina wallpaper as the best by a tight 51.5%.
The winner of the big macOS wallpaper support: macOS Catalina!
With a 51.5% vote share, Catalina narrowly beat OS X Lion and won the title of The Greatest macOS Wallpaper!
