There is less than a week left until the presentation of the new Pixel 9, a range that will bring significant changes compared to the Pixel 8 in all aspects. Far from being limited to simple aesthetic changes in design, the range itself will evolve to include, for the first time, four different models instead of the two we are used to.
If in the last generation we had the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro, now we will be able to choose between the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold
And it already seems clear that Google is going to copy Apple and its iPhones, making the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro have similar screen sizes, and forcing you to pay more for the model with the larger screen, the Pixel 9 Pro XL. But what’s the difference? That’s the key: is it worth spending more, and the latest leak can help us decide.
As usual, it was @evleaks on X who published the new promotional photos of the Pixel 9; In addition to confirming the new design, these are the first official photos that compare device sizes
The most interesting photograph is the one that shows a Pixel 9 Pro vs Pixel 9 Pro XL comparisonas it highlights the size difference between the two devices. The Pixel 9 Pro will have a 6.34-inch display, similar in size to the base Pixel 9 and much smaller than the Pixel 8 Pro’s 6.7-inch display.
Next to it, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is much larger; it is expected to have a 6.73-inch display, so that would be the true successor to the Pixel 8 Proat least in terms of size. However, it should be remembered that the Pixel 9 price leak revealed that the Pixel 9 Pro XL would be more expensive than the Pixel 8 Pro at the time; in other words, this is a hidden price increase by Google.
Aside from the size, there doesn’t seem to be much difference between the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL; in the images, their respective displays have similar bezels and the same punch-hole for the 50MP front-facing camera. The specs should also be identical, with the same Tensor G4 processor and the same 16GB of RAM; The cameras will also be the same, with a 50MP main camera accompanied by a 48MP wide-angle and a 48MP telephoto lens with optical zoom.
