The launch of Android 15, at least in its AOSP version, has given the starting signal for all brands to adopt it as soon as possible. With the final version of the system’s source code, manufacturers can now create their own customization layers based on Android 15, fully stable and compatible with modern and future mobiles.
This year is different from others, since on this occasion, Google has not released the new version of Android with its new phones; the new Pixel 9 still comes with Android 14 out of the box and will be updated next October. This leaves the possibility for other brands to catch up with Google, launching their layers practically at the same time.
We already have confirmation that OPPO will be one of the first brands to adopt Android 15 on its phones, with the presentation on October 17
As has happened in previous releases, ColorOS is expected to bring a good amount of new features that differentiate it from other customization layers; and as has happened with the rest of the industry, OPPO will also bet on AI
One such feature would be a note-taking assistant, capable of intelligently displaying notes and editing them if necessary with a simple tap. The operating system itself will be integrated with AI to improve performance and stability.
Regarding the interface, important new features inspired by Apple are expected, such as a new control center similar to iPhoneand even the ability to use a dynamic island on the front camera to display notifications and app controls. There are even rumors that OPPO phones could be compatible with AirDrop, Apple’s standard for transferring files to other devices that rivals the new Quick Share on Android and Chromecast.
Continuing this trend, the new OPPO X8 would be one of the first Android phones to feature a camera button like the iPhone 16, and ColorOS 15 would support new functions accessible by touching it. For all this, it is possible that the company will show the new mobile during the presentation.
