Android 12 has been with us for a few weeks, and despite the fact that we have been testing its development versions for almost six months, there are still things we don’t know about, and features that surprise us. Among them is the one we are offering you today, a form of download images from a web browser that we have installed and that will make our daily lives easier if we do it often.
Downloading images from multitasking
To download photos from a browser, even those that do not allow us to download just by clicking on them, we have to open multitasking and leave the browser window on the screen.
When we do, we’ll see how an icon appears next to the image we want to download. Click on it and a list of options will appear:
- Lens
- To copy
- To share
- to safeguard
If we click on the last one, we will download the image and we can open it with any viewer, such as Google Photos. We can also share it right from there, maybe with one of the suggested contacts at the bottom of the window.
This icon has also appeared in apps like Telegram or Google Maps, but to download parts of the app interface, not the pictures. Yes, it works in other apps like Instagram.
We assume it is still in development and that they need to fix some bugs.
A hidden feature that is not in all Android 12
It must be said that this function is operational in Android 12 that Google designs. We’ve tested it on the Pixel 3 and know that it works on other Pixels as well.
However, it seems that not all mobile manufacturers have implemented it. We have tested a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra with Android 12 and it does not allow downloading images.
