Everyone agrees that smartphone design is getting more and more boring. Each generation is just a small incremental leap from the previous one, and we see more and more “evolutions” than “revolutions”.
[Diferencias entre los móviles chinos y las versiones internacionales]
Gone are the days when Android makers dared to do different things; it’s too risky in such a competitive market, where the user expects all models to reach a minimum level. But there are still brands that dare to do something different, even if it doesn’t always work.
A set of cameras attached to a mobile
Everything I just said is the best I can think of from the leaked images of the new Tecno Phantom X2, a mobile that I can only hope is a joke and the final design is n is not so absurd.
The images, posted by TechArena24 there Ben Geskin on Twitter they show a mobile with a gigantic network of cameras. And you’ll say “what’s so special about it, if the cameras are taking up more and more space”, but at Tecno they seem to have skipped a few steps, because they got to the logical conclusion: to ensure that the cameras occupy practically the entire width of there is. To make matters worse, they’re centered and not in the upper left corner as usual, causing an effect that honestly makes me feel a bit dizzy.
Maybe these images are of interest to you on mobile. You might think it’s a photography “monster”, with large sensors like the 1-inch one in the new Vivo X90 Pro, but the leaks don’t show that. The lenses themselves do not take up more space than in a normal mobile, the only thing that has increased in size is everything around them.
In fact, the leaked specs aren’t surprising, with a 64MP main sensor likely to be the same as what we’ve seen in other mid-range and low-end phones, accompanied by a wide-angle and a macro lens that will surely be useless. Ironically, the front camera is perhaps better than usual, with a 32-megapixel sensor.
Don’t expect much
If we don’t have high hopes for this mobile, it’s because Tecno isn’t exactly a recognized brand. It’s one of many Chinese brands that only offer their devices in their home country or neighboring markets like India; the only way to buy their phones is through an import store, and that’s a shame because some of the models are interesting.
For example, the first generation of the Tecno Phantom X stood out for having a dual front camera, with a 48MP sensor and another 8MP wide angle, and a curved Super AMOLED screen design, something rare in the mid-range at which he is aiming. . But in return, the processor was only a Helio G95, which made it a somewhat unbalanced mobile.
The Tecno Phantom X2 seems to follow the same path, although it would improve upon using MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 (though not the latest Dimensity 9200 introduced recently).
Of course, we shouldn’t take these leaks as the absolute truth, and it’s perfectly possible that the leaked images are fake; if they are, they can at least serve as a warning of what might happen in the future if cameras continue to gain space.
