The eruption of ChatGPT and the rest of similar generative artificial intelligences changes everything, and almost everyone is convinced that we are witnessing the first steps of a new technological revolution. There is still time for it to reach the whole world, but efforts to facilitate its implementation are not lacking.
Proof of this is AnyGPT, the application for macOS that integrates ChatGPT on Mac in a completely transparent way; or watchGPT to do the same on the Apple Watch. AND we now have something that brings this experience to iOS and iPadOS
All the power of ChatGPT in the interface of a shortcut
The shortcut was named S-GPT (Shortcut-GPT), and allows the integration of requests to ChatGPT in the form of a Siri command or directly in text format as in the OpenAI web but without leaving the native iOS interface. Its structure was created by Federico Viticci, one of the managers of the MacStories site. It works for both 3.5 and 4 AI versions and can be downloaded from this link (you will also need to install this other shortcut).
S-GPT isn’t an official ChatGPT implementation on the iPhone, but if it was, we don’t doubt it for a second. The integration is such that we can generate a playlist in Apple Music with the best of one or more bands
S-GPT also integrates with Safari, Calendar, Reminders, Clipboard and can even summarize any text you have stored on your device. At the moment it sticks to pure text-based answers and does not accept images as grab. Everything will come.
The distribution of the shortcut is completely free, although to use the ChatGPT service Paid OpenAI account required which allows us to get an API key from the service and embed it in the shortcut. It’s something you surely have if you’ve been keen to try out AI, and which MacStories itself recommends in the payment method used to save money.
Nobody knows how Apple is studying how to integrate this type of AI into its systems, but it should be something similar to these integrations. If any third-party developers have already done something like this, I don’t want to imagine how far they can go in Cupertino by applying it natively on iOS. We should see it soon.
