A few days ago we encountered a series of issues related to Samsung, such as a secret notification of my cell phone or data leak on the UK website.
Samsung has recently taken steps to prevent these types of leaks from having a negative impact on its users, activating Samsung's account system. What have they done and why is it so important?
Samsung will push the use of two-step models: why it's a good idea
2-step verification is a technology that has been with us for years, but that rarely works among users. It's technology that forces us to prove that we are the one who is logged in. There are many options, from encoding SMS to security indicators like Google.
Why is this technology important? First, because passwords are completely unreliable to protect sensitive information. Have you ever used a card with bank-issued codes to make online transfers? It is a two-step authentication system and is designed to protect our money.
In the final update two-step verification becomes mandatory.
Samsung's account includes other payment methods. The company cannot allow any error (either for you or for the users themselves) to compromise the security of their accounts, and as a result, make a major decision.
From now on, signing in to your Samsung account will have to confirm that we have 2-step verification. This does not affect our present time, but if you will
How to enable 2-step verification
- We are turning to our Samsung account settings from Settings.
- Click on passwords and security.
- We prefer 2-step verification.
- We will have to add the phone number where the SMS will come when we try to sign in.
- To enter the code we will receive via SMS we would have already verified the phone number. Remember that every time you want to access your account you will receive a new SMS.
- Once configured you will be able to access different access codes in case you lose your phone (store it properly) or that it may be integrated into your 2-step verification system, such as Microsoft or Google Authenticator.
From El Androide Libre we have contacted Samsung Spain for more information. We will update the article with more information when we receive feedback.
