Meta released a statement referring to the situation!
User privacy concerns have been one of the main reasons that Twitter’s current and alternative social network, Threads, is not legal in Europe. However, many users from these countries had taken advantage of a trick that can install Threads on iPhone even if it is not available in your country and not miss any news, until today. According to some reports, Threads stopped working this Friday and the reasons are already known.
On the Ispazio website, they reported that the Threads homepage continues to work and the number of subscribers continues to increase, however, users stopped seeing your content when scrolling through your profile and instead they received the message “Content not available”. The message is repeated when opening any other user profile and on the page dedicated to notifications and activities.
For now and despite using any trick, the homepage is the only one whose feed keeps flowing, always showing new updates. Initially, from Ispazio, they tried using a VPN, connecting to a US server to try and counter any further blockages, but the response was negative.
hours later, Meta released a statement referring to the situation and confirming the suspicions of most users.
Threads is currently not available in most European countries and we have taken additional steps to prevent people from these countries from accessing it. Europe continues to be a very important market for Meta and we look forward to bringing Threads to other countries in the future.”
Currently, Threads keeps track of usersaccording to Meta’s privacy policy and the app’s iOS listing, which reveals that the app may collect a variety of personal data, such as financial and health data, precise location, browsing history, contacts and a search history. Under European data protection law, Meta requires a valid legal basis to lawfully process such personal data for advertising targeting purposes.
Everything indicates that Meta wants to take care of its relations with the countries of Europe and although el #ThreadsDown persists In this part of the world, the statement also clarifies its intention to operate the social network without any limitations in the future.
Despite expectations, not taking advantage of the novelty in all the countries where it could be available could be crucial for the future of Threads. According to analytical monitoring company Sensor Tower, daily active users are down 20% this week compared to Saturdayand the time spent on the application has also been reduced.
