Three years later, the foldable Xiaomi never seen is leaked. It was the reverse of the Mi Mix Fold

Talking about mobiles that are going on the market is an obligation for us. However, we tend to overlook those hundreds (even thousands) of smartphones that never existed. Basically because nothing is known to the vast majority. But there are always exceptions and the first generation of Xiaomi folding this is their proof.

Although not globally, the Chinese company has already launched the Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold in 2021 and the Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold 2 last summer. However, he fled initial prototype of the first generation

which shows that it was going to be very different in concept from those that came out later.

The fold, out

Based on a 2020 patent, developer and analyst Kuba Wojciechowski showed a twitter what appears to be a fairly advanced prototype of the original Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold

(if the company had ever thought of calling it that). In the photographs, we can see some resemblance to the folding like that of Huawei with its recent Huawei Mate Xs 2.

The Xiaomi foldables that have already been released offer a style closer to that of terminals like the Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 with the fold inwards and with a secondary screen that acts as the main screen when folded. However, the leaked prototype shows that Xiaomi intended to have a a different style than the one that ended up on the marketwith the fold facing out and using the left side of the foldable display as the primary when the device is closed.

As curious elements, Wojciechowski also talks about the processor

who mounted this terminal. Whether it became serviceable or not is unknown, but it was equipped with a Snapdragon 855, which was nothing more or less than the most powerful Qualcomm chip in 2019. Although while the patent is from 2020, chips like the Snapdragon 865 and even the mid-year Snapdragon 865+ were already from that one.

For truly unknown reasons, Xiaomi opted for another design line for its first foldable. This probably meant a delay and as a result they reached 2021 with a mobile that was also not below specs with the Snapdragon 888 as the main engine. However, who knows what that would have brought to this hypothetical foreign ‘Fold’. In fact, it may be that in a next generation they pull this idea out of the drawer.
