With the arrival of June, Google has announced a new set of new features for its Pixel phones, tablets and watch, a rollout that begins today and will conclude in a few weeks. This update adds a series of new functions ranging from the arrival of the Gemini Nano to its cheapest smartphone and recently launched in Europe, the Pixel 8a, to car accident detection on the Pixel Watch.
Most of the new features in this removal of features Google phones take it. The most anticipated and widespread was the adoption of Gemini Nano on Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a phones, an advancement in smartphone capabilities thanks to the ability to use the effective artificial intelligence model that runs on the device. Starting today, it is available as a developer option, which can be enabled from the phone settings.
Another feature available across the entire Pixel family of devices is the ability to stream content to other, larger screens, such as monitors and TVs via USB-C cable. A particularly useful function for watching series and films or sharing a work presentation.
However, if there’s one feature that stands out from the rest in the Pixel 8, it’s its camera. Among the new things from Google there are also two new developments in this regard. On the one hand, the Pixel camera can now automatically identify the most photogenic image in HDR+, with the press of a button. On the other hand, it changes the way we choose which camera we want to use and now the user will be able to manually select the target to use to take photos and thus have more control over the shooting.
The last feature offered to Pixel phones is the ability to identify which number called us even if we don’t have it in the directory. In this way, if we have a missed call and we don’t recognize the number A reverse search can be performed directly in the call log.
Pixel Watch and Pixel tablet
Google phones aren’t the only ones getting new features, just like the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Tablet. Regarding the watch, it launches the new car accident detection function to improve the experience already offered by Pixel phones and as a clear alternative to the Apple Watch.
From now on, if there is a serious accident in the vehicle, the watch can check if you are okay. This way, if the user needs help or is unresponsive, they automatically call emergency services. This feature is integrated with the watch’s emergency notification feature, so emergency contacts will also be notified and know the location in real time. Likewise, the fall detector has been improved to be more precise in the event of bicycle accidents.
The Home app on the watch has been renewed to have better control of home appliances, Go directly to favorite actions and it is now possible to add favorite devices directly to the watch face. You can adjust the temperature or lighting in your home more easily and simply.
In this sense, the Pixel tablet also improves with home integration. On the one hand, the new Google Home Favorites widget, which offers even faster access to compatible devices. On the other hand, if we have a smart doorbell We can see who is at the door or chat with them if the tablet is in Hub mode.
