To start, the first thing we need to do is download the official app. You can access its folder available in the App Store, Google Play Store, by following this link. If we enter from the mobile, it will take us directly to the Play Store application, so all that remains is to touch the button to proceed with the download and installation.

Once the installation is complete, you have to look for it in the list of applications or on the home screen. We touch its icon and voila, we are inside. First, it will ask us to choose a language in which the interface will be displayed, then it will guide us through its introduction where we will accept the terms and conditions.

Later, and closer to our goal, he will ask us to let’s connecthaving several options available: Cl@ve, electronic DNI or with our personal data (DNI, type of permit, date of birth and date of first issue will be required).

Now we will have successfully logged in, so on my DGT home screen we will see our personal information

Just below our first and last name we will see a small button Illustrated with the text “See my card”. If we touch it, it will take us to a new screen where we will finally have the driver’s license. In addition, all necessary data such as identity number and our name come.

For this reason, this virtual driving license will serve us perfectly as personal documentation. When the people selected to go to the polling stations ask for your ID, all you have to do is show your laptop. You have nothing to fear, since since 2020 it replaces the physical card. Additionally, the Electoral Board assured its validity with the following statement:

“This Central Election Commission, in its Agreement of February 16, 2023due to the supervision of the instruction manuals for members of the polling stations, said that the presentation of the driver’s license through the miDGT application, of the General Directorate of Traffic, is a valid means of accreditation of the identity of the voter for the members of the polling stations, since it is an official document that includes the photograph of the voter, as established by the article 85.1 LOREG“.

Of course, we can’t deny that having our ID or physical driver’s license will be the most comfortable and recommended option, but it is worth knowing about this possibility. In case of forgetfulness or emergency situation, my DGT will authorize us to vote, so we will not leave the polling station until we have exercised our right.
