It seems that the foldable mobile phone is still in its infancy and its potential has yet to be discovered. Devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 can change our lives, if we know how to take advantage of its internal screen, almost as big as that of a small tablet; but it is no less true that the form factor has not changed in all these years.
Samsung is already experimenting with new foldable phones, but one of its biggest rivals may be ahead of the curve: Huawei. The Chinese company has managed to bounce back after the trade blockade in the United States; thanks to launches like the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, the brand has carved out a niche for itself in the market and is once again one of the best-selling phones in China.
Now, everything indicates that Huawei is about to launch a revolutionary foldable mobile, which folds into three parts instead of two like the Galaxy Z Fold and Pixel Fold, for example. In other words, the device would have two hinges instead of one, allowing us to switch between three different sizes.
Although rumors about this device were already circulating on social networks, we now have the best clue that it’s real: A photo of a Huawei executive using it as a personal device. Specifically, it’s Richard Yu, who was the company’s CEO and now serves as chairman of the board of its consumer division. In other words, he’s someone who can try out the brand’s new products before they hit the market, and that’s what he appears to be doing on a train ride.
The photo, which ironically was taken with a Huawei foldable, the Mate X5, shows a strange device that at first glance looks like a tablet; but if you look closely, you can see the two notches that indicate that it can be folded on itself.
The device should have a 10-inch flexible screenso fully open, it should offer an experience identical to that of a tablet. It can be closed a first time to obtain a size similar to that of a foldable mobile, and it can be closed a second time to have a classic mobile. In practice, it would be like having three devices in one, with all the potential that this implies.
According to the media that published the photo, Digital chat roomThis revolutionary folding would arrive on the market before the launch of the Huawei Mate 70, which is in turn expected for the last quarter of the year. It is therefore possible that its presentation will take place in the third quarter, between this August and next September.
