Turn on CarPlay Wireless Thanks to CPLAY2air

CarPlay, CPLAY2air, Turn, Wireless

CarPlay is already a commonplace in new car models coming to the market, but with the limit that you have to use cable without a very limited number of cars. Thanks to CPLAY2air you can convert your regular CarPlay into a phone without losing one job.

CarPlay falls in love but …

Ever since I started thinking about changing cars, I knew one of the requirements would be CarPlay. I could try it a few times and from the first moment I fell in love. As an Apple Maps user, Apple Music and Podcasts almost every time I get in the car, to be able to control all of this from the rotating point of the car console with fully custom menus, or be able to ask Siri to read me text messages or make phone calls These are things that until the tests you do not know or do exist, but when the tests you want to have them for no practical reason.

But there's always an "but", in this case it is IPhone must be connected to USB cable with cable. And it's not a big "deal," but if you have something you always want something, and this time I like being able to use CarPlay with my iPhone in my pocket, or just not having to connect and disconnect every time I load and go out for a short trip, like shopping . However, my car didn't even offer the option of getting CarPlay wireless, or on the more equipped models.

CarPlay Wireless, almost a pipe dream

Although introduced nearly four years ago, Wireless CarPlay has not spread among automotive manufacturers. Only a few high-end models that count in the fingers of one hand provide the ability to equip your car in this way. There are also equipment that you can buy that you put in your car, but it is a high price, and not that I wanted to achieve this installation on a recently purchased car.

The reason for this small implementation of the CarPlay wireless service is something many of us ask ourselves without getting a response. But what I did find were so many inexpensive solutions that caused me to have general doubts, until I found what seemed to be the right solution: CPLAY2air promises to convert my CarPlay into a wireless version without losing a single system function, with very easy installation and refinement as a real system. So I decided to give it a try, and tell you what comes up, thinking it left me completely happy.

CPLAY2air, details and installation

Small device, looks like a USB adapter to read the cards by connecting HDMI, with straightforward black color and correct plastic finish, without much. It has a USB connector that you have to plug into your car's USB (similar to the one you connect to your iPhone), and a USB port that can be used to connect your iPhone if you don't want to use the wireless option and want to use the cable again.

The installation and preparation process is very simple and you can see it in the video leading article. When connected to your car, a configuration menu will appear on the screen. The process is the same when connecting a handsfree, using the Bluetooth connection of this first contact. When connected, Bluetooth is disconnected and data transfer is done over a WiFi connection, is required for advanced menu navigation and data transfer. This WiFi connection is made directly between the iPhone and CPLAY2air, and it also doesn't block your phone's internet connection using mobile data.

Set a start time … and forget forever

The setup process is very simple as I said, but you also have to do it first, because everything is already configured, the connection and connection process is completely automated. You get in the car, with your iPhone with Bluetooth and Wifi activated, starting again in a few seconds with a CarPlay screen it worked.

CarPlay usage is the same as it always is, using the touch screen of your car or remote control, depending on your type. You will not notice any delays in control, the sound quality is the same as staying again I have noticed a slight delay in less than a second when I hit music or a podcast to push it for a few seconds.. I don't know if the same thing happens with "official" CarPlay wireless, I think it's because of the wireless stuff.

In other models of the market I have read theories that music volume is too low, or not responsive, or that the steering wheel control rods don't work. Not a problem with CPLAY2air, everything (absolutely everything) works the same as when I use it on a cord. Of course, using GPS navigation, playing music and everything except your paying iPhone is a battery transfer option that will leave you with a minimum of several hours of travel. But even that's not a problem, because CPLAY2air lets you connect a USB cable to Lightning and solve the problem.

It's not crazy, it's 100% CarPlay Wireless

The fear he gives about these things is that Apple will launch an update and stop working. The manufacturer has contacted him, confirming that this is not possible, and that in the case of all CarPlay wireless features they will stop working, which is obviously not possible. CPLAY2air is based on the same process as multimedia machines you can buy with CarPlay Wireless, only that instead of getting all the equipment, it only includes an adapter, because your car's machinery does everything else.

In addition, the system is renewable and very easy. You can't even take the adapter home and connect it to a computer so that it can refresh you, they thought of that information. With your connected iPhone you open Safari and in the web address type "192.168.50.2" and open a website where it will show if there is a new version. and if you can download and update CPLAY2air in the same process.

Editor's Vision

If you use CarPlay and the cable is boring, you are obliged to try CPLAY2air because you will see your wish come true. It's easy to install, it is fully plugged in and everything works as you should … you can't ask too much for a device that will plug in your car's USB and you will forget forever, which is nice to say about this type of accessories. And all of this is far less than what it means to get your car's multimedia equipment. The price for CPLAY2air is € 147.95 on its official website (link) but I can assure you that it is worth every manager for what he calls.
