Twitter Just announced this account verification is again available to users of the social network. The verification is displayed next to a blue badge next to the username and is one of the ways to distinguish the authenticity of accounts of high public interest.
This feature was available for many years in the early days of Twitter, but the option to request verification is gone. However Twitter’s new verification system is back to work.
Who is eligible for a verified Twitter account
Twitter has revealed what kind of users and domains can choose to verify their accounts, the list is as follows:
- government
- Companies, brands and organizations
- Media companies and journalists
- Entertainment
- Sports and games
- Activists, organizers and other influencers
On top of that, your account must be complete, which means you must have a profile name, profile picture, confirmed email address, or phone number, must have been active within the past six months and have a history of Twitter standards compliance .
How to request verification on Twitter
If you are in one of the groups that loses the Twitter verification request, here are the steps to follow to get the blue badge, the new verification request appears directly in the Account Settings tab.
- Enter the Twitter app.
- At the top, click on the 3 lines and at the bottom, tap on Settings and privacy.
- You will see an option called Tell us who you are.
- Enter and complete your verification request.
- If you can’t find this option, it will appear over the next few weeks.
Once you submit your request, You will receive a confirmation email in a few days, although this process may take a few weeks depending on the number of requests received. If your request is approved, you will automatically see the blue badge on your profile.
