WhatsApp has changed a lot since its inception, when it started as an alternative to mobile texting. It was therefore logical that the whatsapp account was associated with the phone number, and for years there was really no reason to change it. The problem has arisen with new applications like Telegram, which allow you to simply create a user without having to associate it with a number or a mobile.
Suddenly WhatsApp was obsolete and more and more people were realizing its limitations. For example, not so long ago it was impossible to have the same WhatsApp account on two different mobiles without a “trick” or an application. Fortunately, a complete overhaul of the internal infrastructure has made this and other changes possible.
The latter can be even more useful for many people, especially those who have two whatsapp accounts and want to access both from the same mobile. According to the latest leak, the company is preparing a way to make this possible.
Two WhatsApp accounts on one mobile
The novelty was discovered by WABetaInfo, and it already appears for some WhatsApp beta users on Android; specifically, the change was made to app version 2.23.13.5, available through Google Play if we are registered for the beta version of WhatsApp. However, the company has yet to explain when the feature will hit the world, although as usual this process usually takes several months.
The update includes a new menu where add new whatsapp accounts and switch between them depending on what we want to do. The menu includes all the accounts that have already been added, with the option to choose the one you want to use or add a new one by clicking the button below.
When switching accounts, WhatsApp will stop showing chats from the previous account and only show those from the new one, until we switch again. SO, the two accounts do not coexist and their chats are not accessible at the same time; If we want to use a chat from a specific account, we must first switch to this account using this menu. The great advantage is that it is not necessary to close the application or open another application, since from the same official WhatsApp application we can have several accounts.
This will be especially useful if we have several WhatsApp accounts that we use for different things. For example, we can have a personal account where we only talk to our family or loved ones, and another professional account for work or simply to keep a certain distance with our interlocutors. It’s a change that makes sense, because Meta wants more people to use WhatsApp professionally, either as a method of contact or to offer support, but it’s difficult if we use the same account to talk with our family, for example.
