Already in August last year, the company announced the Map Kit, a map service is intended for use in China. It's a development platform integrated into the HMS Core services center, from where developers will be able to use maps or navigation systems in their products without having to switch to third-party APIs.

However, now the firm has announced partnering with TomTom firm, where Huawei can use maps, navigation and traffic plans for a Netherlands-based company in its applications.

Although TomTom itself already has apps of this type on Google Play, this interaction does not mean that Huawei will use TomTom apps with their new phone. Most likely, in fact, soon, the Chinese giant will go for it upgrade to Google Maps based on the TomTom map platform.

Surprisingly, a TomTom spokesman confirmed that negotiations between both parties ended some time ago, although none of the companies had decided to make a public agreement so far.
