Track the audio level of your AirPods
Introduced in iOS 13, Hearing (Hearing) helps you avoid being exposed to high sound levels. Apple improved this further in later versions of iOS by adding the ability to check the headphone audio level in real time on your iPhone.
For the uninitiated, 85 decibels is the highest safe exposure level for up to 8 hours, while 100 dB of sound is considered safe for just 15 minutes per day. In other words, safe listening time decreases as the sound level increases, so be sure to monitor the audio level of your headphones to protect your hearing.
Please note that only Apple-certified headphones and AirPods can provide more accurate results. To configure it, follow these simple steps:
- First go to the app Settings -> Control Center.
- Now find Listen and press the “+” button on the left.
In the future, you will be able to monitor the audio level of your headphones from the Control Center. If you see a green mark, the volume level is correct. However, if the measurement shows a yellow exclamation point, eThe volume level is above 80 decibels, which is harmful to hearing.
The Health app provides a detailed view of your headphones’ audio levels. Therefore, you can understand how long you are exposed to loud sound. To check it, follow these steps.
- You will first need to go back to the Health app -> Browse tab -> Hearing.
- Now take a look at the last 7 days of headphone audio levels and ambient sound levels.

Along with all this, the feature notifies users of possible interactions between medications and it is possible to connect with healthcare providers to see a list of previous medications, get future updates or add items to your timetable.
