Apple today announced in a press release that starting October 24, Apple Fitness+ will be available on iPhone without the need for an Apple Watch. Previously, you had to havebut now we can enjoy the latest Cupertino service even if we don’t have an Apple Watch.

Fitness+ is an Apple service focused on sports at home. It was announced in the midst of a pandemic, when no one could leave their homes, and it looks like it’s here to stay. The exact number of subscribers is unknown, but what is certain is that it will increase due to this new initiative by Apple.

Fitness+ comes independently to the iPhone

Apple Fitness Service was designed around the Apple Watch. That’s why if you wanted to use it, you had to have this device, but apparently those in Cupertino have changed their minds and decided to make it available on the iPhone independently with iOS 16.1, which comes out on October 24.

Apple Fitness+ can be used on iPhone without Apple Watch in all countries where the service is available. If it is not yet available in your country, you will not be able to take advantage of this novelty of iOS 16.1, although surely Apple is considering extending the service to other countries, but we cannot confirm it nor give you an estimated date.

Obviously, some features will not be available in this mode. During an Apple Fitness+ workout, Apple Watch collects data such as heart rate and calories burned and displays it on the screen. Some of this information will no longer be available because there is no way to get it without Apple Watch.

These measures are important and we should know about them, but the service can be used perfectly like this. In any case, Fitness + can help us enjoy running, and the rest of the functions such as Time to Walk or Time to Run are available without Apple Watch.
