We are testing two new products related to HomeKit's Vocolinc brand that give us all the best of HomeKit at a very competitive price. V.The ocolic Smart Outlet, one smart plug, and the Vocolinc Strip Strip, strings with four disc disc plugs. Two of the best options to start in the world of home automation or continue with the automation of your home.
One plug or four plugs, should choose
Smart plugs are one of the most used tools for those who want to get started on home automation, because of their flexibility and because they allow a non-"smart" product to be "smart." Connect the coffee maker, water heater or regular lamp to the smart plug and you can control it from your iPhone or Siri with your Apple Watch or HomePod, that's easy.
In one production Smart Outlet has a standard form for these products, though much more compact than I've been able to try so far. This is an advantage if you want to place it on the back of a piece of furniture, or if you do not want another wall plug to cover you, which is very common when placing it on two plugs. The front LED tells you when it's on or off, and the button located at the top of its manual on and off are the only things that can be highlighted in this plug.
The power cord is the same type of extension, but with four plugs. Each of them can be controlled independently, and have a physical button for manual control. There is also an on and off button, something that seems to me to be a very good idea but I had never seen one. The white concrete LEDs tell you when the plugs are on or off, and the green light indicates the status of the power cord. What's important is invisible LEDs, especially if you're going to put it in the bedroom.
The power cord protects against the security of multiple uploads, and both plugs use WiFi connections to connect our central, important accessories so that they can control them from outside the home and automate. WiFi connection allows you to place them anywhere in the house, advantage over Bluetooth, however far away in the center. Of course, as is often the case with all accessories of this type, it is compatible with the 2.4GHz band only.
HomeKit Compatibility
We could spend hours talking about which platform to use best for home, but it is undeniably the only thing that offers 100% compatibility since it comes out of the box on HomeKit. No skills here, no languages or jobs available. If the accessory is compatible with HomeKit it is here again in Peru, and that is a great peace of mind for its users. He pulls the plug out of the box, connects it to the socket and snaps the HomerKit code With your iPhone camera, a few configuration steps and that's it, it works.
It's now time to add it to existing and / or automated environments, or create new ones: You can control it from your iPhone, Apple Watch, HomePod, iPad, Mac …, using apps or using your voice via Siri… all options are valid, and all are 100% compatible with these Vocolinc plugs. There is only one task that you cannot do for the Home program: energy management.
To do this you will need to use the Linkwise Vocolinc network (link) that lets you control plugs, such as the Casa app. The application does not convince me too much, though its functionality is completely accurate, but it has a design that does not fit in my eyes, even though that is a small thing. The good thing, as is often the case with HomeKit, is that you can choose them, so we won't complain that there are different options available.
Editor's Vision
Compatibility with HomeKit means being able to enjoy each of the functions offered by Apple's home-use platform, without any six steps. Automation, locations, remote access, Siri control … everything is available on this terminal and on Vocolinc's smart plug, and they add Alexa and Google Assistant to their respective platforms, so you don't have to give up nothing. To this we add that The Vocolinc Smart Outlet is priced at € 24.99 on Amazon (link) and thread The Vocolinc Power Strip costs 59.50 on Amazon (link). It's hard to find a match for this price.
