Bethesda is testing a new Doom, this time fully adapted for mobile touchscreens. Vertical action, one hand control, maximum simplicity and a large number of collectibles: we have already been able to test Mighty Doom on our Android.
Mighty Doom is Bethesda’s latest twist on the legendary franchise that has sparked FPS fever. This franchise already has two Android games in the form of adaptations of Part 1 and Part 2, but it still had to bring the vibe, characters and enemies to one. 100% mobile aesthetic title. This title is Mighty Doom, a game currently in testing in New Zealand and that we have already been able to test.
Goodbye first person, hello top view
You could say the name, decor, and theme remain from Doom, not much else. The rest is too similar to what has already been seen in other “ shooter ” type games with the mobile vertically: simple one-hand control, self-timer and maximum mechanical simplicity. Mighty Doom is a manual and casual arcade game, a title designed to provide a fast-paced gaming experience without the emotions of encountering enemies crouching on the next corner.
The aerial perspective of Mighty Doom lets you see each level as well as all the obstacles it contains, enemies included. The lower virtual control button allows the movement of our “Doomguy”; until we stop this movement, moment when our protagonist will start to turn. The control of the planes is automatic, it suffices to orient the character in the direction in which he must project the plans.
The levels follow one another like dungeons, in the “ roguelike ” style. The enemies are recognizable from the franchise, as well as the sets and weapons. As in any free-to-play game worth its salt, Mighty Doom includes a large number of collectibles to improve characters and make it easier to liquidate anything that moves. Once we die, we can resurrect once to continue the process. The following, we will need to empty the in-game currency; or restart the game lose much of the material we got.
Bethesda plans to monetize the game through process accelerators and virtual currencies, although most are not active at this time. From what we’ve played Mighty Doom doesn’t pose insurmountable difficulties without paying a dime, I hope the experience isn’t too unsatisfying.
Mighty Doom is not the usual doom, it’s more of a decaffeinated extension of the franchise to increase the list of occasional titles in store. This doesn’t have to be a bad thing, the game offers unpretentious fun.
How to currently play Mighty Doom on Android
Mighty Doom cannot be downloaded except in New Zealand, so the link to the Google Play Store is of little use if you don’t live there. However, there is a way to play this new Doom for mobile now: install APK with OBB data.
To perform the installation, we will use the APK Combo file and installer. Note that the use of this type of tool is always a risk, act at your own risk.
- You need APK Combo Package Installer to install Mighty Doom Zip. Download it from their website.
- Go to this link and download the full zip of Mighty Doom. The download must be done on the mobile (or you can later download the file in the download folder of the phone).
- Open APK Combo installer and find the Zip file you downloaded. Install it.
- You will already have Mighty Doom on your Android: All you have to do is start it and play: you don’t even need a VPN.
Mighty Doom is currently in testing, so there is still a lot to do. You have to consider this.
