It’s finish. Finally. We are already in the prelude to the announcement of the premiere of the new chapters of ‘Separación’. Or “Severance,” if you know it by its original English title. To be honest, I will tell you that we do not yet know when this date will be announced, nor what this date will be. However, we already have indications of when this might happen.
The exclusive Apple TV+ series has become a great critical success, both with specialists and viewers. However, and despite the open ending of the first season, The continuity of “Separation” is now in danger. Fortunately, the blood did not reach the river and, barring any major surprises, it will return this year.
What happened with the new episodes of “Separation”
Each platform and each series is a world. In the age of streaming, it’s common to see major series release a season every year and a half. On Apple TV+, as a rule, the same thing happens. However, “Separación” has not published a new chapter in over two years. More precisely, from April 8, 2022.
And rather than wondering what happened, the right question would be what didn’t happen to this production, because everything happened to it. The second season was confirmed before the end of the first even aired, but Filming had to be postponed for various reasons.. From some internal problems that were never exactly revealed, to the famous Hollywood screenwriters’ strike that left much of the audiovisual panorama on hold until an agreement was reached last September.
After this peace between producers and writers, many filmings resumed, but the truth is that in many cases it was impossible to catch up with the premiere. And that was the final straw for “Severance,” a series whose premature cancellation was a very real possibility. Filming for the second season began in late 2022, but he was arrested for almost a year. It was only at the beginning of this year that production resumed.
A month ago now and thanks to an interview with Ben Stiller, its director, we learned that filming would end next April. That was at least the roadmap they had and, as a testament to this turnaround in fortune for the series, it ultimately came to pass. The second season is already fully filmed as confirmed by some of its members on social networks.

Filming isn’t always the hardest. In the case of “separation,” we see clearly how much it cost them, largely due to unrelated issues. However, being a series filmed mainly indoors and under normal conditions without interruption, it has only been running for a few months. It is now the turn of editing of episodeswhich can be more difficult.
It’s not that it’s a series loaded with special effects and other elements that particularly lengthen the process, but in any case it’s not something that can be done in two days. Stiller and his team are probably currently locked in the studio busy with this task.
The fact is that in the absence of confirmation, there are two powerful ideas on the table of hypotheses: in summer or early fall. The first case seems more improbable because the summer season is not very conducive to the broadcasting of large productions. Platforms generally reserve their big bucks for what’s known as the start of the audiovisual season, which usually corresponds precisely to the start of fall. September shows ways and imagining the announcement of the new season in the middle of an iPhone 16 event seems very juicy.
Of course, statistics are there to be broken and if they dictate that powerful series perform better outside of summer, we have a contrary example with ‘Ted Lasso’, Apple’s most awarded series and whose first took place in August. Apple did not have the expectation of releasing a renowned series at first and that is why they opted for summer, although the audience and critics were equally hooked and it was a great success. So it is not excluded that they will try to repeat this with the new season of “Separation”.
In any case, what is clear is that we are getting closer to seeing it. The first season ended with a fade to black that left fans wanting more. There are a lot of loose ends to be resolved, and while it’s unclear whether there will be a third season, many details are set to begin to be revealed in the second. So let it begin soon. Please.
